DG Employment, Social Affairs & Equal Opportunities (June 2010- March 2011)

In 2010 DG Employment commissioned GHK to undertake a study on sex discrimination in access to education. The aim was to provide the Commission with independent information on the extent of sex discrimination in accessing education in European Union Member States. Furthermore existing measures taken by Member States to tackle harmful sex discrimination were explored and the effectiveness of these measures was assessed. This project informed the Commission’s work on new initiatives to prevent and combat sex discrimination in the field of education.
